Japanese automaker Toyota is gearing up to expand its already impressive SUV lineup with the introduction of two all-new midsize electric models in 2025. Here’s everything you need to know about these highly anticipated vehicles and what they promise to bring to the market. Read it on.
1. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Maruti Suzuki will unveil its first production electric SUV, the e Vitara at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Previously known as the eVX, the e Vitara made its debut at EICMA 2024 in Milan. The SUV gets Y-shaped LED headlamps, thick cladding, chunky wheel arches, and connected tail lamps. Inside, it offers a tech-packed cabin with an array of features, such as wireless charging, auto climate control, cruise control, ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera.
For advanced safety, the e Vitara mid-size SUV will come equipped with Level 2 ADAS. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be available in two battery options: a 49 kWh unit (2WD only) and a 61 kWh unit (available in 2WD and 4WD with ALLGRIP-e).

2. Toyota BEV
Suzuki and Toyota have collaborated on a new battery electric SUV, set to be produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant in India starting in spring 2025. This marks the first BEV in their partnership, which began in 2016 and spans vehicle production, model sharing, and electrification efforts across multiple regions, including Japan, India, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
The new SUV, designed exclusively as a BEV, will feature a dedicated skateboard platform co-developed by Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu. It promises a responsive driving experience, a long cruising range, and a spacious, comfortable cabin, with an optional 4WD system for enhanced drivability on rugged terrain.

Drawing design inspiration from Toyota’s Urban SUV concept, the five-seater will share similarities with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX and will be sold in India. This collaboration further strengthens both brands’ commitment to expanding their electric vehicle offerings globally.
