After three years of record-breaking sales and a commanding 73 per cent share in the EV market, Tata Motors has reached a significant milestone of 1.50 lakh EV units sold. Building on this momentum, the company is preparing to launch several new electric vehicles in the Indian market, with confirmed timelines for their debut.
Tata Motors launched the Punch EV and the Curvv EV this calendar year, reinforcing its commitment to zero-emission vehicles. Before this fiscal year wraps up, Tata is also set to introduce an electric version of the Harrier. Moving into FY 2025-26, Tata Motors plans to roll out the Sierra EV and Avinya, two models previously unveiled in concept form, further expanding its EV portfolio.
The upcoming Harrier EV, with a claimed range of over 500 km per charge, will support bidirectional charging, adding convenience and utility. Additionally, Tata Motors signed an MoU with JLR late last year to license JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform, signalling further advancements in its EV offerings.

This partnership grants Tata access to JLR’s cutting-edge electrical architecture, e-drive units, battery technology, and manufacturing know-how, all aimed at creating Tata’s premium EV lineup under the Avinya brand. The upcoming electric vehicles are expected to incorporate high-energy density batteries, enabling quicker charging and delivering more efficient, high-performance electric drives.
The upcoming models will feature an electric all-wheel-drive configuration, enhancing traction and handling capabilities. Given that the Harrier EV concept was showcased as a 4×4, the production version is expected to include a dual electric motor setup. Additionally, the electric version of the Safari may also emerge in the coming years. Tata has assured that the future electric vehicles will be outfitted with an EV-specific user interface, a comprehensive in-car app suite, OTA updates, multiple driving modes, and various connected features.

The new range of Tata electric vehicles will feature a flat floor and efficient battery packaging, contributing to a lower centre of gravity. This design approach extends the wheels to the corners, creating a more spacious cabin. Furthermore, the vehicles are expected to include a frunk, offering additional storage space thanks to the lack of a conventional engine.
