Mahindra Thar Roxx Customer Deliveries Begin In India

The customer deliveries of the Mahindra Thar Roxx have commenced today; the SUV is on high demand across the country

Mahindra & Mahindra opened official bookings for the five-door Thar Roxx on October 3, 2024, and customer deliveries have commenced today right on time for Dussehra. The off-road SUV achieved a new milestone by securing over 1.76 lakh reservations within just 60 minutes of the bookings going live. Mahindra has assured customers that it will communicate tentative delivery schedules in a phased manner over the next three weeks.

The overwhelming response to the Mahindra Thar Roxx bookings resulted in an accumulated order book value of approximately Rs. 31,730 crore as per JATO. While bookings remain open at authorized sales outlets and online, some dealers have indicated that the high demand could push the waiting period beyond a year, depending on the variant. Just a few days ago, the auctioned unit of the Thar Roxx, which went for Rs. 1.31 crore, was delivered.

Mahindra will more likely reduce the waiting period for the Thar Roxx by ramping up production, a strategy it has successfully employed in the past with highly popular models like the Scorpio N and XUV700. In September 2024, Mahindra reached a significant milestone by surpassing 50,000 monthly unit sales for the first time, recording 51,062 units sold.

This strong performance pushed Mahindra’s total sales to 87,839 units, marking its highest-ever monthly sales and setting a new benchmark for the automaker. This achievement also allowed Mahindra to surpass Tata Motors for third place in passenger vehicle sales. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is priced at Rs. 12.99 lakh for the entry-level variant, with the top-end 4WD diesel AT variant reaching up to Rs. 22.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Mahindra Thar Roxx comes with two engine options. The 2.0L four-cylinder mStallion turbo petrol engine delivers 177 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque. On the diesel side, the 2.2L four-cylinder mHawk engine produces 175 PS and 370 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic, offering versatility in driving performance.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx offers a wide range of variants and starting from the base trim, it is already well-equipped. It stands out from the three-door Thar by being more practical, providing increased cabin space and a more premium list of features, making it a more versatile and comfortable option for a broader range of users.
