Multiple new MG cars are scheduled to go on sale next year including an electric sports car, full-size SUV and a premium MPV

JSW MG Motor India recently launched the Windsor EV in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Chinese-owned carmaker currently sports 3 EVs in its line-up and plans to launch a slew of new electric cars in the coming years. In addition to this, introducing premium offerings will also be an area of focus for the company. In this article, we will look at the upcoming MG Cars in India next year.

1. MG Gloster Facelift

MG introduced the Snowstorm and Desertstorm Editions of the Gloster around mid-2024 in the Indian market. The facelift model of the Gloster has been long due and is now scheduled to go on sale next year. The mid-life update of the Toyota Fortuner rival will bring a slew of changes to the package including new design, updated cabin layout and more features.

A revised front fascia, new set of alloy wheels, new bumpers and updated headlamps will be a part of the package. Inside the cabin, the latest spy shots reveal a new free-standing infotainment system, a new design for AC vents and an updated centre console amongst others. Mechanically, it will continue with the familiar set of engine options i.e. 2.0-litre turbo diesel unit is good enough for 161 bhp and 375 Nm of peak torque while the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel unit pumps out 215 bhp and 480 Nm of peak torque.

2. New-Gen MG ZS (Astor)

The new generation of the MG ZS debuted globally in August this year. Sold in India as Astor, the new-generation model of the mid-size SUV is expected to launch next year in the domestic market. The new generation model gets an updated design with new headlamps, tweaked bumpers, redesigned tailgate and more.

Under the hood, the international spec model comes with multiple powertrain combinations including strong hybrid petrol, naturally aspirated petrol and turbo petrol engines. In India, we expect the new ZS (Astor) to come with the 1.5 litre naturally aspirated and turbo units, however, MG could also offer the strong hybrid option.

3. MG Cyberster Electric Sportscar

MG showcased the Cyberster EV earlier this year and it will likely be the first model to be sold via the brand’s premium ‘Select’ dealership chain. Expected to go on sale next year, MG’s first sportscar will rival the likes of BYD Seal EV, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 in the Indian market.

The Cyberster will likely be offered in two variants i.e. a 64kWh 308bhp single-motor setup with a claimed range of 520 kilometres and the top-of-the-line 77kWh battery pack paired to two electric motors putting out 544 bhp and 725 Nm of peak torque. The latter AWD variant comes with a claimed range of 580 kilometres on a single charge and can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.2 seconds.

4. MG Premium MPV

Apart from the Cyberster electric sportscar, MG will introduce one more premium model in the Indian market next year. To be sold via the brand’s premium ‘Select’ dealership chain, the upcoming model will most likely be a premium MPV. As per the information available on the MG Select website, we can see the silhouette of an MPV with a long bodyline and dominating front profile.

Going by the design of the headlights, it could be the MG Euniq 7 MPV which runs on fuel-cell technology. However, hydrogen fuel cell powertrain could be replaced by an all-electric unit. The Euniq 7 features a 7-seater layout with 2+2+3 configuration and it will likely go up against the likes of the Kia Carnival in the country. It is important to note that these are just speculations and nothing can be confirmed as of now.
