In October 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire topped the sedan sales charts with 12,698 units sold, reflecting a 14 per cent drop from the 14,699 units sold in October 2023 and the new-gen will only help in catapulting its lead further. The Hyundai Aura secured the second spot, continuing to trail its primary rival, the Dzire, in domestic sales.
The Hyundai Aura saw a strong performance in October 2024, with 4,805 units sold, marking a 17 per cent rise compared to the 4,096 units sold in October 2023. In contrast, the Tata Tigor faced a steep 41 per cent decline, with sales falling to 926 units from 1,563 units the previous year, placing it in eighth position. The Honda Amaze secured third place with 2,393 units sold, a 17 per cent drop from 2,890 units in October 2023.
The new generation Honda Amaze is set to launch on December 4, 2024, bringing significant updates to its design and features. Its arrival intensifies competition in the segment, especially following the debut of the heavily revised Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Verna secured sixth place in October 2024 sedan sales with 1,272 units, reflecting a sharp 45 per cent drop compared to 2,313 units sold in the same month last year.

The Volkswagen Virtus achieved 2,351 unit sales in October 2024, a 33 per cent growth compared to the 1,772 units sold in the same period last year, earning it the fourth spot in overall sedan sales. This strong performance also crowned it the best-selling model in the midsize sedan segment for the month. In comparison, the Skoda Slavia secured fifth place in overall sedan sales.
The Skoda Slavia, based on the highly localised MQB A0 IN platform it shares with the Volkswagen Virtus, mirrors its sibling in many aspects. In October 2024, the Slavia recorded sales of 1,637 units, reflecting a sharp 16 per cent decline compared to the 1,943 units sold during the same month in 2023.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz claimed the ninth spot with 659 units sold in October 2024, reflecting a modest 5 per cent decline compared to the same period last year. Trailing behind, the Toyota Camry registered 176 units, a drop from 197 units in October 2023, marking an 11 per cent year-on-year decrease.
