Tata Records 48,000+ Unit Sales In October 2024 – Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Tiago

Tata registered a total of 48,131 units last month as against 48,337 unit sales with a marginal YoY decline domestically

Tata Motors Limited recorded total sales of 82,682 vehicles in the domestic and international markets in October 2024, slightly down from 82,954 units in October 2023. In the domestic market, Tata posted 80,839 unit sales last month as against 80,825 units during the same period in 2023 with a near flat growth across the automotive industry.

In a similar fashion, Tata registered a total of 48,131 units last month as against 48,337 units with a marginal de-growth in the passenger vehicle business (including EVs). The brand also sold 292 units in the foreign markets as against 300 units with a YoY volume decline of 3 per cent. Thus, the combined sales stood at 48,423 units.

Compared to the same period twelve months ago with 48,637 unit sales, a flat growth was encountered. Tata’s passenger electric vehicle sales saw a marginal YoY decline of 2 per cent as 5,355 units were recorded against 5,465 units. In the 2024 calendar year, Tata introduced two new electric vehicles as the Punch EV and Curvv EV strengthened its lineup.

Before the end of this FY, Tata will launch the electric version of the Harrier. In the next fiscal, the company will bring in the Sierra EV as well as the Avinya. The competition in the above Rs. 15 lakh EV space is certainly getting intensified and being the market leader, Tata will look to bolster its appeal with consistent new launches.

The IC-engined Punch and Nexon are the best-selling models for Tata on a regular basis. In September 2024, Tata Motors ranked fourth in overall sales, following Mahindra and the trend continued in October. Most leading car manufacturers reported a sales rebound following September’s dip, taking advantage of the festive season.

However, Tata Motors and Honda Cars India bucked the trend, experiencing a decline in sales but not by a big margin. In contrast, Maruti Suzuki went past two lakh volume production in a single month while Mahindra posted its highest ever monthly sales as 54,504 SUVs were dispatched against 43,708 units with a huge growth of 25 per cent.
