City Rail Link Day One Update

by · SCOOP

Train services have resumed travelling through Auckland’s City Rail Link tunnels and new train stations following a short disruption to services as a result of a small fire at Waitematā Station earlier this morning. Services were resumed within an hour.

Train services through the City Rail Link tunnels were suspended at about 6am after smoke and a small fire was located in a lighting cable in a panel above one of the platforms at Waitematā Station. The fire is unrelated to any CRL systems.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand was immediately notified of the fire and its crews responded quickly. The fire has now been extinguished and services are now resuming.

Our teams will be working to get services back up and running as quickly as possible but this will take some time because trains will need to be moved back to the right position for running usual services.

We’d like to thank Aucklanders for their patience and understanding as we’ve worked through this issue this morning.
