Can You Run GTA 6 at 60 FPS? Here is the Truth
by Ashish Jha · Inside Sport IndiaTech experts reveal the truth about GTA 6 frame rates. Learn why 60 FPS is unlikely, even on PS5 Pro. Here is what we know so far.
With the anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 increasing, one query that seems to arise among fans is whether GTA 6 will play at 60 FPS on consoles. As retailer leaks had hinted of a performance mode being possible for the game, an analysis by the Digital Foundry reveals that players must curb their expectations.
The technology analysts reveal that GTA 6 will launch with a maximum FPS of 30, even on the PS5 Pro.
Why GTA 6 60 FPS May Not Be Possible
The main problem is not that of the graphics card, but that of the CPU of the console itself. The latest game, GTA 6, will include such components as a highly detailed open world with AI, realistic traffic and NPCs’ actions and various simulations being run in real time.
All these factors require a lot of CPU power. Although the PS5 Pro has a more powerful graphics unit compared to PS5, the CPU itself has little to offer by comparison. Thus, experts believe that this enhanced console will not be able to provide sufficient CPU power for a steady 60 FPS.
Thus, PS5 Pro will be able to provide enhanced visuals, enhanced resolution and improved ray tracing, but not higher FPS.

What Frame Rate Should Players Expect?
According to Digital Foundry, Rockstar Games will give priority to details of the world and quality of graphics over performance. Rockstar Games’ games have always emphasized the creation of realistic worlds over console high frames per second.
It is due to the above-mentioned fact that 30 FPS mode is seen as the most probable choice during the release of Red Dead Redemption 2.
On the other hand, there is a possibility that Rockstar Games might develop a 40 FPS mode for those players who have 120Hz monitors or TVs.
A 60 FPS mode is considered highly unlikely, and even maintaining 30 FPS could be a challenge. For now, fans will have to wait for Rockstar Games to officially reveal the game’s performance details.
