Samsung's timeline for One UI 7 release revealed
by Abdullah Mustapha · GizchinaWhile Chinese smartphone manufacturers are rapidly rolling out stable Android 15 updates, Samsung seems to have hit a snag. The Korean tech giant, known for its swift software updates in recent years, has yet to release even the first beta version of its One UI 7, based on Android 15. This delay is a noticeable departure from Samsung’s previously praised update speed and has left many fans frustrated.
Samsung Delays One UI 7 Rollout as Rivals Surge Ahead
The delay is reportedly due to Samsung focusing on major enhancements to make One UI 7 the best version yet. While this ambition is commendable, it has tested the patience of users eager to experience the new features Android 15 brings. However, there’s some relief for those waiting for updates, as a leaked timeline sheds light on the expected release schedule.
According to the report, Samsung plans to kick off its One UI 7 beta program in the first week of December. The Galaxy S24 series will be the first to receive the beta. Followed by the Galaxy S23 lineup approximately two to three weeks later. For older models like the Galaxy S22 series, the situation remains uncertain. With rumors suggesting they may not join the beta program at all this year. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 family has been ruled out of the beta entirely.
Gizchina News of the week
The beta program is anticipated to run for about two months, with a final stable release slated for February 2024. This timeline aligns with Samsung’s earlier confirmation that One UI 7 will debut alongside the Galaxy S25 series. No other devices will receive the update until the S25’s official launch.
While Samsung’s decision to refine One UI 7 may result in a more polished user experience, the delay leaves it trailing behind competitors who are already rolling out stable Android 15 updates. This lag raises questions about whether Samsung can maintain its competitive edge in software updates, a field it once dominated.
As Samsung users wait, the company must deliver on its promise of an exceptional One UI 7 experience. If it succeeds, users may forgive the delay; if it fails, Samsung could tarnish its reputation in the fast-paced world of smartphone innovation.
