House builder Miller Homes is brightening the streets of Lanarkshire this autumn as it celebrates the fifth anniversary of its Home Safe campaign.

Designed to enhance the safety of local children, the initiative provides high-visibility vests to help keep them safe during the darker months.

In recognition of International Walk to School Month, the campaign focuses on making primary school children more visible as they walk, cycle or scoot to and from school.

For the past five years, Home Safe has supported children across the West of Scotland, donating 8000 vests to children.

Families can now head along to the following Lanarkshire developments to collect vests, available on a first-come, first-served basis: Constarry Gardens, Croy; Stoneyetts Village, Moodiesburn; Highstonehall Park in Hamilton; and Jackton Gardens, East Kilbride.

Holy Cross Primary School in Croy received a direct donation from Miller Homes’ Constarry Gardens development in preparation for October.

Marie Murphy, head teacher, is appreciative of the donation, saying: “We are delighted to accept the high-vis vests from Miller Homes.

"They are a very practical solution to making walking, cycling and scooting to school safer, our children love them; thank you.”

Louise Caldwell, sales director for Miller Homes Scotland West, added: “Our Home Safe initiative is very important to us, as it helps ensure children in our communities are as visible as possible during their walk to and from school.

“As the nights grow darker, road safety becomes even more crucial, especially during October when children are encouraged to walk to school.

"We’re excited to see families in Croy and the wider North and South Lanarkshire areas take part this year and pick up their high-vis vests.”

The Lanarkshire sales centres are all open Thursday to Monday, from 10.30am to 5.30pm. High-vis vests are available to all children aged four to 12-years-old on a first-come, first-served basis.
