Stargazers are in for a treat as the Super Beaver Moon graces the skies this week, marking the last in a series of four consecutive supermoons. The moon will reach its peak this week when it will be the last supermoon of 2024.
BBC Sky at Night magazine explains that "Beaver Moon" is among the more unusual names attributed to full moons, joining others like the Harvest Moon, Worm Moon, and Strawberry Moon. Although such names don't influence the visual spectacle of the lunar event, they do mirror the seasonal activities or historical events of the month they occur in.
The beavers' pre-winter activity and historical fur-trapping lend this month's moon its name. It is also known as the Frost Moon or Freezing Moon, acknowledging the onset of chillier times.
As a supermoon it will be bigger than a regular full Moon. However the reality is while still beautiful, the difference will only really be noticeable by using a telescope or some other viewing device, reports Lancs Live.
How to see it
The Super Beaver Moon will be in the sky on November 15. It will reach its peak at 9.25pm.
For the best viewing experience, clear and cloud-free skies are essential. It's also recommended to get away from street lights.

Stargazers are suggested to bring along chairs, blankets, snacks and drinks to make the evening more enjoyable. If you're planning on capturing the moment, consider using a long exposure setting to capture more details of the moon.
Experimenting with different angles and compositions can also help in getting the best shots.
