Driver mounts pavement and crashes through wall at Edinburgh city centre hotel

Images going around social media show the aftermath of the car that smashed through the wall at Voco Edinburgh.

A car has crashed through a wall outside an Edinburgh city centre hotel.

It is believed that the incident occurred on Saturday evening, October 12, at Voco Edinburgh on Royal Terrace, reports Edinburgh Live.

Images circulating on social media show the vehicle mounting the pavement after smashing through the gated wall. It looks like the motor vehicle reversed with sufficient power to crash through.

One local who witnessed the collision shared an image on Snapchat and slammed the 'parking fail'. They said: "You can't park there mate".

The gated wall was badly damaged when the vehicle forced through, although the car did not appear to sustain much damage.

The cause of the incident and any details of injuries are unknown. Police Scotland and Voco Edinburgh have been approached for comment.
