A Glasgow man was left horrified after finding a box of abandoned tarantulas beside a bin in the city's south side.
The shocking discovery happened on Thursday, October 31, on Maxwell drive near its junction with St John's Road. It's understood at least two of the spiders were spotted in the boxes - one potentially still alive, reports Glasgow Live.
Images show three black terrariums filled with decorations and bedding sitting next to the Glasgow City Council bin. Posting on social media, the man said: "Found these abandoned today at the side of the road. At least 2 of them had tarantulas in them, one possibly still alive. SSPCA has been called but this is just irresponsible.

Before later adding: "They were picked up around 1.30pm by someone ( not the SSPCA) The SSPCA did say they can rehome them if whoever did take them wants to."
The SSPCA confirmed that they were alerted to the incident but claimed the boxes were gone before they appeared at the scene.
According to the Royal Veterinary College, tarantulas should be kept at a temperature of between 23 – 30 degrees. The warm weather arachnids can face health risks if they experience significant temperature fluctuations.
Recommending that the spiders should be kept in a warm room with their temperature monitored - not outside in Scotland.
