Intel Panther Lake-powered Surface Laptop for Business with 13, 13.8 and 15 inch screens are now available

Microsoft has announced three new Surface Laptops with Intel Panther Lake processors. They all look pretty nice… and they’re all ridiculously expensive, but that’s at least partly because they’re not made for general consumers.

Meet the new Surface Laptop for Business 13 (1st-gen) and Surface Laptop for Business 13.8 and 15 inch (8th-gen).

The smallest model is also the cheapest, with prices starting at $1299 for a model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (although that version is coming later this year and the cheapest version you can get right now is a $1499 model with 16GB of RAM). All models of the Surface Laptop for Business have an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, LPDDR5x onboard memory, and a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD.

The 2.7 pound laptop also has a 13 inch, 1920 x 1280 pixel, 3:2 aspect ratio touchscreen display with a 60 Hz refresh rate, two USB 3.2 Type-C ports with support for video, charging, and data, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Other features include a 50 Wh battery, backlit keyboard with a Precision touchpad, a 1080p webcam, and stereo speakers and dual microphones.

If you’re looking for something with a bit more power, the 13.8 inch and 15 inch models are available with a choice of Intel Core Ultra 5 335 or Core Ultra X7 368H processors – the last one features Intel Arc B390 12-core integrated graphics that delivers the kind of performance you’d normally expect from an entry-level discrete GPU. The 13.8 inch version is also available with a Core Ultra 7 366H processor if you want a 16-core CPU that doesn’t have Intel Arc graphics.

While the new Surface Laptop 13 for Business supports up to 24GB of RAM, has a display with 178 pixels per inch, and features USB 3.2 ports, the larger models support up to 64GB of RAM, have more pixel-dense displays, and feature a set of ports that includes:

  • 2 x Thunderbolt 4
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Type-A
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio
  • 1 x Surface Connect
  • 1 x microSDXC Express card reader
  • 1 x Smart Card reader (for some models, in some markets)

The Surface Laptop for Business 13.8 inch has a 2304 x 1536 pixel, 120 Hz touchscreen display with 201 pixels per inch, while the 15 inch model has a 3270 x 2180 (262 ppi) screen.

For the first time, Microsoft is also offering an optional integrated privacy screen for the Surface Laptop for Business 13.8 inch model, which limits viewing angles to help keep people from spying at your screen over your shoulder.

And while these laptops are bigger and more powerful than the 13 inch version, they’re not a lot heavier, with starting weights of 2.97 pounds for the Surface Laptop 13.8 and 3.67 pounds for the 15 inch version.

They’re also more expensive, with prices starting at $1950 for the smaller model and $2150 for the larger.

All of Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop for Business models for 2026 also support “advanced haptics,” which the company says brings haptic reinforcement for more actions including window snapping, resizing, and dragging and dropping content. This is baked into some Windows features, and Microsoft says “select third-party apps” will also provide haptic feedback in new ways.
