Asus ROG Zephyrus DUO (2026) dual-screen gaming laptop is ridiculously powerful… and expensive

by · Liliputing

The Asus ROG Zephyrus DUO (2026) is a gaming laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H Panther Lake processor, 32GB of LPDDR5x-8533 memory, a 1 TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 discrete graphics with up to 135W TGP.

Those features alone would probably make this powerful machine a pretty expensive laptop. But it’s also a dual-screen notebook with two 16 inch, 120 Hz OLED displays and a removable magnetic keyboard. And that’s apparently enough to make it a really expensive notebook. First announced during CES in January, the new ROG Zephyrus Duo dual-screen gaming laptop is now available for pre-order for $4500 and up.

The starting price is for a GX651AR-DB96 model with GeForce RTX 5070Ti graphics. Folks who want a higher-performance RTX 5090 GPU will have to pay $5500 for the GX651AX-DB96 version of the laptop.

I suppose the silver lining here is that customers in the US are kind of getting a bargain – the laptop costs more than $8500 in Taiwan, although the model available in that region does have 64GB of onboard memory.

All models of the laptop have a set of ports that include:

  • 2 x Thunderbolt 4
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
  • 1 x HDMI 2.1
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio
  • 1 x SD card reader
  • 1 x DC power input

Asus equips the new ROG Zephyrus DUO with a 90 Wh battery and ships the laptop with a 250 watt power supply. Other features include six speakers (two tweeters and four woofers), support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 6.0, and a Bluetooth keyboard with RGB backlit keys.

The laptop’s cooling system includes liquid metal, a graphite sheet, vapor chamber, and dual fans.

But the key feature that makes the ROG Zephyrus DUO (2026) unlike other gaming laptops is its display system. The notebook has two 16 inch Asus ROG Nebula HDR, OLED 2880 x 1800 pixel, 120 Hz touchscreen displays and a built-in kickstand that lets you use the mobile computer in a variety of different forms.

For a normal laptop experience, just place the keyboard atop the lower screen. Want more screen space? Detach the keyboard, place it in front of the laptop, and use the kickstand to position the screens so that one is above the other.

Or you can open both screens and turn the computer sideways so that you get two tall 1800 x 2880 screens positioned side-by-side.

Thanks to a 360-degree hinge, you can also fold the screens flat or position them back to back, allowing you to use the laptop for 2-person games or to show a presentation to the person sitting across from you or collaborate while you’re both looking down at the Rog Zephyrus DUO lying flat on a table.

Measuring 255 x 246 x 25mm (14″ x 9.7″ x 1″) at its thickest point and weighing 2.82 kg (6.22 pounds), this isn’t the most portable notebook. But it’s also not unreasonably hefty considering how much Asus packed into the laptop. To get similar functionality from a typical notebook you’d need to carry an external monitor… although come to think of it, while pairing a portable monitor with an existing gaming laptop might not be as elegant a solution as using a dual-screen notebook, it’d probably be a lot cheaper.
