Venom-toothed Noxious Terminids are soon to infest Helldivers 2, and it's your noble job to sterilise the galaxy for Super Earth
The bug is the feature!
· Rock Paper ShotgunHelldivers 2 isn't slowing down any time soon, and according to Edwin's recent interview with Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt, it'll continue to be Arrowhead's main priority for the future. As if Helldivers 2 wasn't full of enough horrors for our brave Super Earth Helldivers to shoot at for the betterment of galactic democracy, its next update is due to add an entirely new Terminid subspecies, the Noxious Terminids.
First up on are the Noxious Scavengers. These horrible little (see: huge) things skitter around at high speed and are loaded with deadly poison, but are thankfully at least fragile. Liberal use of area-of-effect weapons such as flamethrowers, explosives and flamethrowers are recommended to avoid being overrun by these horse-sized insects. Then there's the Noxious Spewer, which is not only fast like its smaller brethren despite its larger size, but also equipped with a web projectile which locks a Helldiver in place, vulnerable to a fatal bite. Oh, and if you dare shoot its soft underbelly, it violently explodes, with the same web fluid covering a wide area around it. The poison inflicted by these creatures' bites is a new damage over time effect that can blur vision, slow movement, eat away at your health, and make you fear this may be the end for you — so it's a bit like getting the flu (get your jabs!)
This update also makes the change that bug caves can be found across many more worlds across the galaxy, leading troopers down tunnels with limited visibility and claustrophobic dead ends. Super Earth's propaganda, sorry, I mean, guidance, describes the galactic sterilisation program quite simply: locate the invasive species, identify the horrific monsters at the barrel of your flamethrower, and sterilise (burn to cinders). The guidance also, hilariously, includes the line: "Super Earth reminds you that ammunition is cheaper than antivenom." Now, get out there and rid our beautiful democracy of this vile pestilence.
