Phasmophobia's latest update is live now, taking the horror out of the character models and leaving it in the ghosts
Anti-body horror
· Rock Paper ShotgunAs of today, you'll find it a bit nicer to look at your friends in Phasmophobia. That's thanks to the introduction of the multiplayer horror's character update, which makes some welcome changes to its character models, alongside a healthy suite of other changes, fixes and tweaks.
With this update, upon booting up the game you'll now find 12 new "higher quality character models" each with their own bios, adjustable hair colour and, mysteriously, "more." The customisation options stretch to these new character models' outfits too. "A wide array of available cosmetic items to equip your chosen character with; coats, shirts and trousers, all with multiple colour options," explain Kinetic Games in a Steam blog post. "Unique shirts for prestige and event specific achievements. Accessories such as piercings, hats and glasses are also available."
These models won't just be nicer to look at aesthetically, they won't have you wishing for a chiropractor either. That's because there's a number of new animations, for things like crouching amongst other forms of movement and tinier details. You can watch a cute little update release trailer above where Kinetic poke a playful bit of fun at themselves regarding the old character models.
You'll also find that these snazzy new character models come equipped with a watch that "can be used during contracts to monitor player sanity levels and keep track of time elapsed during the contract." A few changes have been made as well, like the death room kicking the proverbial bucket with you now "seamlessly transitioning to the Dead state" after being killed. Your journal will now appear in-game while being used too, and "ID Cards and Badges are now equipped and swapped within the customisation Shop menu, rather than the main menu." The doors have physics now too! Hurray for physics!
There's plenty more changes and fixes besides these, so you can read the patch notes for more.
