Delve into "a deep underground facility full of secrets and horrors" in the latest Fallout 4 quest mod from the Commonwealth Story Expansion Project

A mysterious bunker with out of this world contents

· Rock Paper Shotgun

After adding a whole new town to Fallout 4 last month, a group of modders have released another in their long string of extra quests for the RPG. This latest mission revolves around a dungeon delve in the Glowing Sea, where a mysterious bunker's just been unearthed.

"The harsh radioactive winds of the Glowing Sea have uncovered a deep underground facility full of secrets and horrors," the group behind the Commonwealth Story Expansion Project (CSEP) declared the description of this latest work, Under The Stars.

A fresh dungeon with a quest attached, the mod tasks you with donning your hazmat suit for a trip to a sunken bunker in the region of post-apocalyptic Boston with the least chill weather. Inside await voiced holotapes and puzzles offering clues as to what went down in this cosy corner of the Commonwealth, plus some new gear to make braving whatever lurks within worth it.

Spoilers: Judging by the screenshots, it looks like the place is an Area 51-esque hidey-hole for evidence of aliens and other cryptic oddities.

If you're unfamiliar, the CSEP lot are responsible for a bunch of popular Fallout 4 quest mods based around the likes of deadly cults, underground wars, post-apocalyptic detective work, and Brotherhood of Steel drama. While Under The Stars doesn't look have been as big an undertaking as those, that previous form points to it being an expertly-crafted addition that'll slot seamlessly into the game.

The modders have put Under The Stars together as part of a community-hosted modding jam called Fallout Flood, with this latest one based around the theme of being underground. Among the other works to have come out of it thus far are another Fallout 4 quest mod dubbed Stranded - The Oasis, a dungeon full of funky rats called the S'Laven, and a new robot enemy you can wear as a hat. It's also produced a New Vegas quest mod about exploring an abandoned NCR railway, so seems to have been very productive gathering of modding minds.

To give Under The Stars a go, your copy of Fallout 4 will need to have the Automatron and Vault-Tec Workshop DLCs.
