Samsung Electronics to move up start of chip factory in Yongin to 2029, source says

SEOUL, July 13 : Samsung Electronics aims to bring forward operation of its chip fabrication site in the city of Yongin, south of Seoul, to 2029 from 2030-2031, as the chipmaker seeks to keep up with surging demand for memory chips used in AI infrastructure, a source told Reuters on Monday.

Samsung did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comments.

Yonhap News Agency first reported about the change of the plan on Sunday.
