How much snow can St. Louis expect on Monday?
· Yahoo NewsST. LOUIS – As one system exits the region, another is shortly behind. Our attention turns to a building low front over the Rockies that will push east overnight and eventually through Missouri and Illinois by Monday afternoon.
This system will bring another round of snow to the region. However, this snow will be much faster and drier in nature, and will not accumulate like the previously thick, wet snow we experienced on Saturday.
The snow will be heaviest over northeast Missouri into central Illinois, skirting our northernmost counties from Pike County, Missouri, over to Montgomery County, Illinois. Snowfall totals in this band will push into the two-to-three-inch range with a few spots pushing four inches. Further south—and for much of the FOX 2 viewing area—the storm will be weaker and more fleeting, with moisture somewhat limited. As a result, snow totals drop a bit, with most of the region receiving anywhere from a dusting to perhaps as much as two inches in a few areas where the snow band resides a little longer.

The Monday morning commute for us is dry, but it will be cold and cloudy.

The timing of the snow should hold off until kids are home from school in metro St. Louis but could affect some after school activities. The snow will arrive earlier north and northwest of the metro area, and later south and southeast. Peak snowfall rates in metro St. Louis will be in the 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. window, and likely last only for a portion of that window of time. The system will clear the area before 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Cold air sticks around for the remainder of our seven-day forecast, with Wednesday acting as our melting day, as highs approach 40 degrees. That snowmelt will slowly shut off as another frigid airmass drives in Wednesday night. This will result in temperatures in the teens or single digits for the Thursday morning commute, and we struggle to warm out of the mid-20s for afternoon highs Thursday.

There’s a slight chance for wintry precipitation on Friday, but as of now, it is not highlighted in the seven-day, as probabilities are too low this far out.
