Xiaomi EOL List Updated: No HyperOS 4 For for These Smartphone Models

by · Nokiamob

Xiaomi is officially closing the software support chapter for a broad swath of its smartphone portfolio. This week, the Chinese tech giant updated its End-of-Life (EOL) roster, adding several fan-favorite models to the list of devices that will no longer receive official updates.

Notable additions to the chopping block include the popular Xiaomi 12 series, the Xiaomi 12S Pro, and a variety of Redmi Note 12 and Redmi K60 models.

What Does the Xiaomi EOL List Mean for Users?

When a device is added to Xiaomi’s EOL list, it marks the end of routine software maintenance. These smartphones and tablets will no longer receive the highly anticipated HyperOS updates, nor will they get standard monthly security patches.

While the hardware will continue to function normally for daily tasks, the lack of ongoing security updates leaves the devices increasingly vulnerable to new cyber threats over time. However, Xiaomi does maintain a critical caveat: in the rare event of a severe, widespread security vulnerability, the company may still deploy emergency emergency hotfixes, even if the device is technically outside its official support window.

Missing Out on HyperOS 4

The timing of this EOL expansion is significant. Xiaomi is currently gearing up to release HyperOS 4, which is based on the upcoming Android 17 architecture. The new operating system promises significant visual overhauls and a host of new features. Unfortunately, users of the newly listed EOL devices will miss out on this next-generation software experience.

If your daily driver is on the list below, cybersecurity experts generally recommend beginning the search for an upgrade. To combat software obsolescence, consumers should look toward Xiaomi’s newer models, many of which now launch with a robust promise of five major OS updates, ensuring a much longer secure lifespan.
