HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G Hits India: Dimensity 6300, 120Hz Display, and Local AI

HMD has expanded its Indian smartphone lineup with the introduction of the HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G, a device that delivers strategic upgrades over the standard Vibe 2 5G released earlier this year. With a starting price of Rs 15,999, the “Pro” variant steps up the hardware game by introducing a sharper display, a more capable processor, and a higher-resolution primary camera.

At the center of the hardware upgrades is a 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD panel featuring a fluid 120Hz refresh rate—a notable leap from the HD+ display found on the base model. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Endurance and charging have also received a welcome boost. The Vibe 2 Pro 5G packs a substantial 6,000mAh battery designed to easily push through a full day of heavy use. When it is time to recharge, the device supports 33W wired fast charging, significantly cutting down wall time compared to the 18W charging limit of the standard Vibe 2.

For photography, HMD has equipped the Pro model with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 primary sensor, accompanied by a basic 2-megapixel macro lens. A 13-megapixel front-facing camera handles selfies and video conferencing.

On the software front, the smartphone ships with Android 16 out of the box. While HMD guarantees two years of security patches to keep the device protected, the company has confirmed it will not provide any major OS upgrades, meaning the phone will remain on Android 16 for its lifecycle.

To cater specifically to the Indian market, HMD has integrated “Indus by Sarvam,” a localized AI assistant capable of processing queries, drafting text, and planning tasks in over 22 Indian languages. The phone also supports the Sanchar Saathi application, providing users with government-backed telecom safety and security tools.

Pricing and Availability

The HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G will be available in two memory configurations when it goes on sale via Flipkart starting October 8, coinciding with the Big Billion Days event. Buyers can choose from Silver Mist, Aqua Green, and Cosmic Purple colorways.
