Xiaomi Cancels HyperOS 4 Update for Several Redmi and POCO Phones
by Kreso · NokiamobXiaomi is quietly restructuring its software lifecycle strategy, cutting short the update roadmap for several popular Redmi and POCO smartphones. In a move that departs from its traditional support window, the tech giant has reportedly canceled plans to roll out the Android 16-based HyperOS 4 update to a specific slate of mid-range and performance devices.
Historically, consumers purchasing within certain tiers of Xiaomi’s portfolio could confidently expect at least two major Android version upgrades. However, this latest policy shift signals a transition toward a more restrictive software lifecycle for select models, capping them at a single major Android OS upgrade. For many users, this means their devices will reach the end of their primary developmental roadmap much earlier than anticipated, raising concerns about the long-term value of the company’s mid-tier offerings.
According to recent reports, the following smartphones have been officially excluded from the upcoming HyperOS 4 (Android 16) rollout:
- Redmi K60 Pro
- Redmi K70 Pro
- Redmi Note 13 Pro+
- Redmi Note 13 Pro
- Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G
- POCO X6 5G
- POCO M6 Pro 4G
While the exclusion from the Android 16 rollout is a blow to feature enthusiasts, it does not mark the absolute end of life for these handsets. Affected devices will remain functional and are expected to continue receiving routine security patches and minor maintenance updates in accordance with Xiaomi’s broader security bulletin, even as they are left behind in the transition to HyperOS 4.
