Xiaomi HyperOS 3.3 Update: Android 17 Arrives for the Xiaomi 17 Series

The testing phase has officially concluded for Xiaomi’s latest software iteration. The tech giant has commenced the public rollout of HyperOS 3.3, bringing the much-anticipated Android 17 upgrade to a select group of its high-end smartphones, including the flagship Xiaomi 17 series and the Xiaomi 15T Pro.

However, users expecting a radical visual overhaul might need to temper their expectations.

Laying the Groundwork for the Future

While the jump to Android 17 technically constitutes a major operating system upgrade, HyperOS 3.3 is decidedly a foundational update. According to changelogs sourced from Ximitime, the software introduces no sweeping visual redesigns or flagship features. Instead, it serves as a critical stepping stone, laying the underlying architectural groundwork required to support the advanced capabilities anticipated in the upcoming HyperOS 4 release later this year.

The immediate focus of HyperOS 3.3 is strictly on under-the-hood refinements. The update heavily prioritizes overall system stability and bundles in the June 2026 Android security patch to fortify device defenses.

Despite the lack of superficial changes, users will need to clear out plenty of storage space. The update packages are exceptionally large—weighing in at up to 9.5GB—which is typical when an entirely new underlying Android framework is being installed.

HyperOS 3.3 Rollout Strategy and Supported Devices

Xiaomi is currently pushing the update to the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra across Global and European markets as a standard public release. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 15T Pro is receiving its Global update via the Mi Pilot testing channel, meaning only a limited pool of early adopters will gain access before a wider, general release is authorized.

Because Xiaomi traditionally deploys its software in staggered batches, it may take several days for the notification to reach all eligible devices. Users can manually check for availability by navigating to Settings > About phone and tapping the HyperOS logo.
