Vivo S70 Details Emerge: The Next Mid-Range King with Flagship Camera Accessories?

by · Nokiamob

The upcoming Vivo S70 is shaping up to be a formidable mid-range smartphone, with new leaks detailing significant upgrades to its processing power and camera hardware ahead of an expected November launch in China.

According to prominent industry insider Digital Chat Station, the Vivo S70 will be powered by Qualcomm’s unreleased Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, providing a natural generational leap over the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 found in its predecessor, the Vivo S60. The display remains largely familiar, retaining the 6.59-inch footprint of the S60. It will reportedly feature a flat 1.5K OLED panel utilizing LTPS technology, supplied by Visionox.

The most substantial upgrade lies in the optical department. The S70 is tipped to feature a 64-megapixel Sony LYT-610 periscope telephoto camera capable of roughly 3x optical zoom. This marks a notable resolution bump from the 50-megapixel periscope lens used on the S60, while maintaining the same versatile zoom range. Furthermore, rumors suggest the device will support a dedicated teleconverter accessory. Historically reserved for Vivo’s premium X-series flagships, this addition aligns with earlier leaks from tipster Smart Pikachu, who hinted that only one mid-range November release would combine a large-sensor periscope camera with teleconverter support.

Interestingly, Digital Chat Station noted that early engineering prototypes of the S70 experimented with a secondary rear display. However, Vivo ultimately scrapped the concept, and the final retail unit will feature a traditional back panel.

While the core performance and imaging specs look promising, several key details regarding the Vivo S70 remain under wraps. Vivo has yet to officially announce the device, leaving its battery capacity, fast-charging capabilities, exact launch date, and retail pricing to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
