by · Forbes

Now that the furnace-like summer of 2024 is over, it’s time to either re-tune your bike for colder weather or have a look at some of these recently-released two-wheelers, all from Mongoose, who have been making solid machines under different monikers since the 70s. You’ll also find some handy accessory suggestions at the end.

Mongoose Argus Comp 26Mongoose

This is a hardy, can-take-it hardtail mountain bike for rugged trail rides. A sloping top tube design provides an extra low standover for a low center of gravity for superior control on rugged terrain. Stand up or sit down - you’re still in control. A lightweight aluminum frame features internal cable routing for a sleeker look, and a 120 mm travel fork helps to absorb bumps in the trail. Hydraulic disc brakes deliver all-weather stopping power.

Mongoose Guide SportMongoose

The Guide Sport is a 700c adventure bike designed for the serious rider to gobble up mile after mile of gravel road. It’s got a particularly strong, lightweight Tectonic T2 aluminum frame with a tapered headtube, internal cable routing, and stash pack storage bag. A Shimano Sora 2 x 9 drivetrain offers plenty of gears to tackle long, difficult climbs or to catch up with your pals when all of you are on a fast descent. It’ got 700 x 47c tires on WTB ST-19 double wall, tubeless compatible rims combined with Promax DSK-330 mechanical disc brakes for precise steering while riding off the beaten path.

Mongoose also has some extremely groovy, colorful bikes headed your way. Here are two.

SupergooseMongoose

First launched in 1979, the Supergoose was one of the most recognizable bikes of the 1980s. This new replica Supergoose was designed around the popular 1984 “loop-tail” frame. Like the 1984 model, this Supergoose features 4130 chromoly tubing and alloy drilled Pro Class Rims, unique to Mongoose. Also included are Dia-Compe brakes and levers, Pro Class handlebars, and colorways with padsets inspired by the original models.

FS-1 FreestylerMongoose

The FS-1, first launched by Mongoose in 1985, was the brand’s intro into the growing BMX freestyle scene of the late ’80s. The newest addition to the Classics collection, the FS-1 is available in green or lavender and features a 4130 chromoly freestyle frame and chromoly fork with four period-correct peg bosses. The FS-1’s authentic Viscount Dominator saddle on a laid-back seat post, and five-spoke nylon mag wheels with white gumwall tires all honor the original release.
