The New Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Is Here And It’s A Beauty
by Alistair Charlton · ForbesAston Martin has revealed the new Vantage Roadster. It doesn’t come as much of a surprise, given how the new Vantage landed last year and there’s always a drop-top version along shortly after the coupe, but the 2025 Roadster deserves a whole heap of attention for its beauty alone.
Perhaps it’s the Satin Iridescent Sapphire paintwork, which works oh-so-well against the snowy winter backdrop of Aston’s publicity photos. Or maybe it’s the desire to hear that incredible V8 soundtrack without a roof and windows getting in the way.
Either way, the Vantage Roadster will surely go down as one of the most beautiful cars of 2025, regardless of what else appears over the next 11 months or so.
As with previous generations of drop-top Vantage, the Roadster has a fabric roof instead of a folding metal arrangement, and it operates quicker than any other car on sale today. At least that is Aston’s claim, which it substantiates by saying how the roof can be raised or lowered in just 6.8 seconds – and while driving at up to 31 mph, should the rain arrive suddenly. You might be able to pop the manual roof on your Miata more quickly, but for a powered system Aston’s sounds impressive.
Power comes from the same twin-turbocharged, 4.0-litre motor as in the Vantage coupe. It produces 656 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque – both up significantly on the previous-generation Vantage – and the 0-60 mph time is just 3.5 seconds, up a tenth on the coupe. Top speed for the convertible is 202 mph, equalling the coupe. At what point does a sports car become a supercar? Asking for a Brit.

Aston says the convertible weighs only 132 pounds more than the coupe, thanks to the motorized roof system and chassis strengthening, and that the suspension has been tweaked to accommodate a slight rearward shift in weight distribution.
Inside, the car has the same all-new interior as the coupe. This includes Aston’s new infotainment system which runs on a 10.25-inch touchscreen that is a significant improvement over its previous versions. The system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and there’s an optional sound system upgrade from Bowers & Wilkins that packs the two-seat cabin with 11 speakers and a 390-watt amplifier.
Prices start at $205,900 and deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025.
