‘Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’ Will Get Day One DLSS 3 Support
by Barry Collins · ForbesUpdate: The original version of this story incorrectly reported that Nvidia had announced support for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on GeForce Now. That is not the case at this time.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will get day one support for a host of Nvidia graphics technologies, including DLSS 3, DLAA and ray-traced shadows.
The highly anticipated update to the Flight Sim series will push even high-end gaming PCs hard, with its super-realistic graphics and revamped physics engine, which makes water look much more lifelike among many other changes.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 PC Requirements
The recommended PC spec for the game is punchy, with Microsoft recommending an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7-10700K or better processor, and a Radeon RX 5700 XT or GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card. However, the “ideal spec” sees the GPU demands upgraded to an RX 7900 or GeForce RTX 4080 with a hefty 64GB of RAM.
However, the heavy demands will be somewhat softened by support for Nvidia’s DLSS 3 with frame generation. This technology basically uses AI to generate new frames between existing ones, increasing the frame rate and making gameplay look smoother.
DLAA, or Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing, is another graphics smoothing technology that aims to eliminate the jagged edges you sometimes see in video games.
Ray traced shadows, meanwhile, simulates the light in a more natural fashion. That should make shadows look softer and make the way light interacts with surfaces look more natural. In a game such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, where the sun is constantly bouncing off water, planes and other surfaces, that should make the game appear even more realistic.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 sees a huge number of graphical improvements over the 2020 release, including improved ground detail and textures, animal herds, live shipping traffic, and the simulated world moving through all the colors of the seasons. There’s also support for tornados, storms and the Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights) among other atmospheric features.
