Every Disney, Marvel And ‘Star Wars’ Project Releasing In 2025
by Erik Kain · ForbesDisney has a pretty massive year coming up, with new releases across all its main brands both in theaters and on the streaming service, Disney+. We have the most exciting Star Wars project in years headed to streaming, plus a hugely expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe to look forward to.
Top that off with some major Disney releases, like Moana 2 in late 2024 and Zootopia 2 next year, and toss James Cameron’s next Avatar on for good measure, and the next year is looking absolutely jam-packed.
Here are all the current projects coming to Star Wars, Marvel and Disney—plus a couple of 20th Century Fox holdovers, next year:

- AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH – December 19, 2025 (20th Century / Theatrical)
As you can see, it’s a bit light on Star Wars, but Andor is one of the best entries in that franchise ever, and I’m looking forward to Season 2 more than I’ve looked forward to anything in the Disney Star Wars era.
Disney’s animated features include sequels to Moana and Zootopia, both of which were among Disney’s best films of the last decade. I’m less enthusiastic about the live-action Snow White, mostly because it just looks weird, but we can balance that out against Pixar’s Elio which looks delightful.

I admit, I haven’t been as hyped by Pixar movies over the past few years, but Inside Out 2 was wonderful, and it’s renewed my faith in the studio.
There are quite a few Marvel projects landing in 2025, as Disney and Marvel show no signs of slowing when it comes to both theatrical and Disney+ releases in the MCU. I remain fairly skeptical of Captain America: Brave New World, though that’s largely due to how disappointing Falcon and the Winter Soldier was. I’m looking forward more to Thunderbolts, basically Marvel’s version of The Suicide Squad, and I’m very curious how Daredevil: Born Again turns out now that the series has moved from Netflix to Disney.
As for Avatar: Fire And Ash, I’m keeping my expectations in check. The Avatar films tend to be more spectacle than substance, and I was downright annoyed by the last one. If the younger characters say “bro” even half as much in the upcoming film, I might just walk out. (I won’t walk out, but seriously please tone down the “bros” Mr. Cameron).
Still, plenty to look forward to and even the stuff I’m skeptical about, I hope I’m wrong to be. I’d happily eat my hat if all these sequels and spinoffs turn out to be great. Just don’t let me down when it comes to Andor Season 2!
