Budha Amarnath Yatra: Security Tightened Along Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch Highway
by Northlines · NorthlinesRAJOURI/JAMMU, Aug 20: Security has been intensified along the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway in view of the Budha Amarnath Yatra, with security forces stepping up surveillance and area domination measures, officials said on Thursday.
With convoys carrying pilgrims moving along the highway, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces and the Army have enhanced security arrangements along the route to ensure the safe movement of devotees.
Dozens of temporary checkpoints have been established at strategic locations along the highway for better regulation of traffic and increased surveillance, the officials said.
Security personnel are conducting enhanced monitoring of the highway and adjoining areas, while Army units are also providing security cover to the vital road used by pilgrims travelling towards the Budha Amarnath shrine.
The intensified arrangements are aimed at maintaining security along the route and ensuring smooth movement of pilgrimage convoys.
Officials said security measures would remain in place along the highway and other vulnerable locations during the pilgrimage to prevent any untoward incident and facilitate the safe passage of pilgrims.
The Budha Amarnath Yatra attracts devotees from different parts of the country and passes through the strategically important Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch region. (Agencies)
