AAI advise passengers to stay updated, expect delays across North India

Srinagar, Dec 19: Widespread fog over North India disrupted air traffic on Friday, severely affecting operations at Srinagar and Jammu airports, with 12 flights getting cancelled and 18 delayed.

“At Srinagar International Airport, seven flights were cancelled and twelve were delayed due to poor visibility and adverse weather at departure points including Delhi, Amritsar and Kolkata. At Jammu Airport, five flights were cancelled and eight delayed, bringing the total to 12 cancellations and 18 delays across both airports,” officials said the news agency.

At Srinagar, airlines most affected included IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet, while at Jammu, Air India, SpiceJet and AirAsia experienced significant disruptions.

Meanwhile, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) issued an advisory stating that airport operations across North India may continue to face disruptions and urged passengers to stay connected with their airlines for real-time updates.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) also appealed to travellers to rely only on official communication channels, allow extra time for airport processes and assured that facilitation teams are assisting passengers at major airports.
