At a time when airfares on the Jammu–Srinagar sector are soaring between ₹4,000 and ₹6,000, the Vande Bharat Express is enabling passengers to complete the same journey for just ₹730 (excluding catering charges). Covering the distance in a swift 4 hours and 45 minutes, the train not only reduces travel time compared to road journeys but also ensures a fatigue-free and seamless experience.
The semi-high-speed train has quickly become the preferred choice for both locals and tourists, witnessing an overwhelming response since its launch. On its inaugural day, around 3,925 passengers availed the service, while the number surged to over 5,000 passengers on May 3, reflecting its growing popularity. Officials expect occupancy to soon reach full capacity as demand continues to rise.

Adding a cultural touch to the journey, IRCTC has introduced a specially curated vegetarian Kashmiri menu onboard, allowing passengers to savor regional flavors. Travelers also have the flexibility to opt out of meal services during booking, with catering charges deducted accordingly, or purchase food onboard subject to availability.
