Fact or Fake Dilemma

by · Northlines

With more and more people joining social media and a good number among them relying on it as a primary source of information, it has become imperative that the people should know the art of sieving the facts from contents being offered endlessly.

The influence of artificial intelligence has made things more complex as this has been reshaping how people consume and share information. The combo of AI and social media has lately turned into a dangerous entity having the potential to spread wrong narratives creating distasteful situations in society apart from acting as a boon in the modern day world.

This new fusion between the communication channels and the power to create content of choice without any hurdle by using AI has led to a precarious situation wherein unscrupulous elements are misusing this facility for spreading misinformation which in actuality appears to be convincing and real. Unfortunately, it is difficult to distinguish between AI-generated content and real information, adding to confusion and making it challenging for users to separate facts from fake content.

Going by this scenario, it becomes necessary that people should use social media with great caution and not believe everything they see online without verification. As social media has been loaded with fake content especially by using the AI tools that it has become nearly impossible to fact check each and every post, therefore people should gauge by themselves and believe in things which are being streamed by authentic and verified sources. Images, videos and all other content can be forged these days by using rather misusing the AI, therefore reacting on posts without confirming the authenticity is not at all a good idea these days.

It is always better to rely on government sources in the cases of posts on social media having a tendency to create mayhem of any kind. The issue is quite crucial and it therefore required that people should be educated on the subject so that entities with vested interests cannot sway them and take undue advantage to satiate their wrongful intentions.
