Gmail Live will let you talk to your inbox instead of searching it

The tool, which essentially turns Gmail into a conversational partner, is an 'email-searching' experience. For power users drowning in thousands of emails, the tool offers an easier way to look up emails.
There's a voice experience here, which is Gmail Live. And there's also a text-based experience, which is powered by 'Ask Gmail,' via 9to5Google.
Although this isn't live just yet, the functionality, once live, will be accessible right from Gmail's search bar. Tapping the search bar itself will pull up the Ask Gmail experience, while tapping the Gemini Live-like icon within the search bar, as seen in the image below, will trigger the Gmail Live experience.
Tapping the Gmail Live icon will bring up a familiar Gemini Live-like UI with prompt examples. These include, but are not limited to:
- What are my upcoming travel dates?
- What are updates on my latest orders?
Traditionally, for example #1, you'd search for your flight name to find out travel dates, while for the second example, you'd look up "Amazon" or a different order source. Gmail Live removes that keyword friction entirely.
Once Gemini Live goes through your request, it gives you a written and spoken response. It also highlights the email(s) in question.
The feature is currently in testing and will roll out to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers later this summer.
