Motorola's newest Razr phones are here, and they're more colorful than ever
by Andy Boxall · Android PoliceMotorola’s 2026 compact folding phones are here, and just as with other years, they’re very tempting, but likely only if you didn’t splash out on one last year.
However, before we jump in, it’s important to know we’re talking about the versions bound for the UK and Europe here, and not the slightly renamed versions destined for the US that are certain to follow.
Confusing, but blame Motorola for this. The good thing is, the specs and details are almost certainly going to be identical, so you can get yourself prepared for a US announcement anyway.
Motorola Razr 70 Ultra
The Razr 70 Ultra is the flagship version of the new range, and a phone which Motorola says is the most powerful Razr yet. As with many other Motorola phones, the new colors have been co-designed with Pantone, but the overall footprint off the device is practically identical to the Razr 60 Ultra.
It comes in either an Alcantara-covered Orient Blue, or the wood-finish Cocoa, and the 199 gram body has an IP48 dust and water resistance rating, plus Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic over the 4-inch cover screen.
Open the phone up to view a 6.96-inch AMOLED with a 2992 x 1224 pixel resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, plus make use of the upgraded 5,000mAh battery with both 68W TurboPower wired charging and 30W wireless charging.
Despite being called the most powerful Razr ever, the Razr 70 Ultra uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and a choice of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage space. This is the same as the Razr 60 Ultra.
The camera specs appear the same too, with a 50MP, f/1.8 aperture main camera, 50MP wide-angle, and 50MP selfie camera, but Motorola has upgraded the hardware and imaging pipeline without changing the megapixel count.
Unfortunately, the Razr 70 Ultra is also more expensive than last year’s model, starting at £1,199, which is around $1,618, and £100 more than the 60 Ultra.
Motorola Razr 70
If the Razr 70 Ultra costs more than you’re willing to spend on a new phone, you may want to look at the Razr 70. The good news here is, Motorola hasn’t raised the £799 (about $1077) starting price, so crucially, it still undercuts the competing Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 by a considerable amount.
However, the spec can’t compete with the Z Flip 7. The cover screen is 3.63-inches with a 1056 x 1066 pixel resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, and the unfolded screen is a 6.90-inch AMOLED with a 2640 x 1080 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
A MediaTek Dimensity 7450X processor powers the phone with a choice of 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB storage space. The phone also gets an IP48 dust and water resistance, and 30W wired charging for the 4,800mAh battery.
There are four colors available. The woven-finish Hematite, soft-touch Sporting Green, sparkly Violet Ice, and acetate Bright White.
Motorola Razr 70 Plus
You’ve guessed it, the Razr 70 Plus is the middle ground between the Ultra and standard Razr 70. It gets the same 4-inch cover screen, but a slightly smaller 6.9-inch AMOLED screen when unfolded.
There’s a pair of 50MP rear cameras and a 32MP selfie camera, a 4,500mAh battery with 45W wired charging, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. It comes in a Pantone color with a woven finish called Mountain View.
We’ve left this one to last because at the time of writing, Motorola hasn’t provided any UK or European pricing for the Razr 70 Plus, meaning we’re unsure when, or where it will be sold.
Software and AI
If you’re left looking at the specs and thinking there aren’t many changes over last year, then perhaps a few software changes will convince you to buy.
Motorola promises three years of operating system updates and five years of security updates, considerably down on Samsung and Google’s update commitments.
Motorola has partnered with Google to showcase a new digital wardrobe feature in Google Photos, where it will gather images of you and your clothing, isolate the different articles, and help you mix-and-match a new look.
There’s a host of Moto AI features too, plus access to Google Gemini, Microsoft’s Copilot, and Perplexity’s AI-powered search.
Availability
The Motorola Razr 70 Ultra and Motorola Razr 70 will be available from Motorola’s own online store, plus a selection of carriers in the UK including Three, GiffGaff, and Vodafone, plus retailers such as Currys, Amazon, and Selfridges.
