Google’s NotebookLM is readying a powerful upgrade to give you your time back
by Rahul Naskar · Android PoliceAndroid has maintained its position as the world's leading mobile operating system, and it's still growing. But growing in popularity much faster than the mobile operating system is NotebookLM, an AI-powered notebook that boosts your productivity. Not only that, NotebookLM is so powerful that users keep finding all kinds of unique ways to use the AI tool.
This wouldn't have been possible without Google pushing new features and improvements to NotebookLM at a rapid pace. Google releases at least a couple of updates to NotebookLM in a month. And in one of those future updates, the Mountain View tech giant appears to be planning some solid additions to NotebookLM.
Google is readying some solid NotebookLM improvements to save time
If you are someone who uses NotebookLM extensively, chances are you'll have several notebooks saved in the My notebooks section. However, finding the right one from the crowd isn't easy, especially if it's an old one. As things stand right now, the only option you have is to scroll while keeping an eye out for the one you are looking for.
Now, if the latest finding from leaker TestingCatalog is true, it should become a lot easier to find the notebook you want to open. The leaker has spotted a new search button on the NotebookLM home screen. So, instead of scrolling through the page, typing the first few letters of the title of the notebook will likely bring you the right one.
We haven't seen a hands-on video of how well the search button works, but we expect it to be smarter than allowing users only to search by title. Time will tell whether the button will support multiple search criteria, though there will likely be an even faster way to find the right notebook.
While a search button is always handy, what saves time even more is the ability to pin. Just like how you pin important message threads in messaging apps, you'll also be able to pin selected notebooks on the NotebookLM home screen, per the leaker. This way, they will always be visible on top, allowing you to spot them quickly.

Both features are currently in the development stage, so it's hard to tell when Google will roll them out to the public. Given the basic nature of the search functionality and the pinning capability, we expect them to be available for free NotebookLM users, unlike the recently announced Cinematic Video Overviews.
