Samsung's One UI 9 will simplify this Settings page this summer

Samsung is listening. No, I don't mean that in a privacy-breaching way. Instead, the South Korean tech giant seems to be working on changes that will make its OS a lot more cleaner and intuitive.

Samsung's Android 17-based One UI 9 is expected to land sometime this summer, likely with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. From what we already know, the OS will reportedly "completely transform" some of Samsung's biggest features. At the same time, the skin is also expected to refresh the basics.

The list of potential changes starts with One UI 9's photo editor. As highlighted by the folks over at SammyGuru, Samsung is looking to add AI-powered prompts to your creative workflow.

With One UI 9, when editing an image, users will see smart suggestion pills positioned right above the editor's input field, suggesting users certain edits that prevent the need for manual adjustment, as seen in the screenshots below.

Trimming the fat

One UI 9 is also expected to make a specific Settings section a lot more compact. For reference, Samsung's 'About Phone' section has always featured a lage image of the device in question. This is changing now.

As seen in the image below, with One UI 9, the About Phone section will only highlight a compact render of the device tucked into the top-left corner. The visual change frees up space for information that actually matters, including your phone's model number, serial number, device name, and more.

Elsewhere, while not as big as the other two changes, One UI 9 is also expected to bring a revamped Settings app search bar experience.

The search bar, with the new OS, will adopt a new animation that will expand and collapse with a smooth and flexible motion.

Samsung users will get to try out the above-mentioned changes once the One UI 9 beta program goes live. Considering that the OS skin is expected to go live in stable this summer, the beta program should almost be here.
