T-Mobile's lifetime 10% discount is real, and here's how to actually get it

T-Mobile offers some of the best carrier promotions in the United States. Perks depend on your plan, but they can include free Netflix, Hulu, and Apple TV for $3/month. You can also get a free year of DoorDash DashPass, along with additional discounts and freebies with T-Mobile Tuesdays. However, most of these promotions don't offer direct savings on your service plan, which is why we think it's worth talking about when the opportunity to save comes up.

The one discount that you should try and get

The Mobile Report shared that there's a new 10% off promotion that some customers can see in the T-Mobile T-Life app. It's not showing up for all customers, but those who can see it can share a code with someone they know. It will knock 10% off their service for life. That's right, this promotion has no expiration.

This perk only works for those signing up for new lines of service. It might not sound like much, but getting 10% off for doing nothing is pretty sweet. You just have to find someone who has the perk in their account. The sweet part is that this discount can stack with other promotions on the account.

Make sure someone can send you a referral link before moving your lines of service to T-Mobile. You don't have to port a line of service immediately, but you must do so within 14 days of activation in order to get the 10% referral discount. The Mobile Report also shares that each eligible account will have its own unique referral code.

If you're moving from one carrier to another, we recommend getting this promotion on your account. You'll need to ask every friend or family member you know, but once you get it, it will be worth it. Plus, beyond the perks and discounts, T-Mobile is a fairly reliable carrier with good coverage and performance across many major cities.

While the carrier has raised prices over the past couple of years, it still offers some of the best plans. If you want the lowest price, we recommend checking out an MVNO like Mint or Visible. An MVNO uses a major carrier's network, which means great service but offers fewer perks.

I've used Visible and Mint and never had any issues with the service. You sign up online, activate the eSIM, and you're good to go. The good thing is that if you don't like it or want to switch, you can always do so because an MVNO doesn't have a contract.
