The Google TV Streamer just got hit with a new update

The Google TV Streamer has been around since the end of 2024, and while it's a good product, we can't really say that it's an exciting one. However, Google has made efforts to improve the experience by delivering updates to the device, with some notable improvements including the inclusion of Gemini, improved audio, and more.

Of course, that's where Google really excels with its products, providing software support and improvements that can go on for years. With that said, it looks like a new update has just launched for the Google TV Streamer (via 9to5Google). However, it's unclear what exactly has changed, since Google has not updated its support page.

Not every update is a big one

While we love seeing updates for our products, not every one has to be a big one. Some offer small stability updates, while others can bring major changes. When it comes to the most recent Google TV Streamer update, 9to5Google reports that it comes in at 219MB and has the April 2026 patch in tow.

The update comes in as UTTK.260317.003, and it appears to just fix various bugs in the software. Again, we'll know more about this update once Google updates its support page. If you're interested in keeping your system up to date, you can head into the Settings menu and navigate to System settings, then head to the About page and grab the System Update.

Following these steps will allow you to update your unit. The Google TV Streamer is one of the best options if you're looking to upgrade your home entertainment experience. While we liked it at its original price, we've seen it go on sale, which makes it an even better buy if you haven't picked one up.

If you're not looking to spend $100, you'll want to look at Walmart's Onn 4K, which features very similar specifications and performance, but costs just $60.
