Google Meet's best feature is finally trickling down to us individual account holders

by · Android Police

Google Meet's 'Take notes for me' feature isn't all that new. First released in 2024, the feature, as its name suggests, takes notes throughout meetings and then provides you with a transcript and a summary.

It's an exceptional tool for power users that attend or host several meetings per week. However, up until now, the feature has been reserved for those very people. That's changing now.

For reference, the feature has been exclusive to Education, Enterprise, and Workspace users since its debut. Now, it's finally making its way to users with individual Google accounts.

The tech giant announced the expansion in a blog post today, indicating that Take notes for me is starting to roll out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers starting today.

Once widely rolled out, the feature will be available via Google Meet on the web and mobile devices in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

If you're a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscriber, you can get started with the feature by clicking the pencil icon at the top of your Meet window to start note-taking.

Alternatively, you can enable the feature under Meeting records in your Google Meet settings, which should trigger the feature on permanently.

Once enabled, all participants in the meeting will be informed that automated notes are being taken.

Once the meeting concludes, you'll receive an email from 'Gemini Notes' with a brief summary of everything said during the meeting, complete with insights like suggested next steps. The same email will also contain a link to a Google Doc with the entire meeting transcript and more details.

The notes are first made available to the host, and depending on the configured settings, they're made available to other attendees too.

Google AI Pro costs $19.99/mo, while the AI Ultra plan starts at $100/mo.
