Amazon's Fire TVs are gaining access to Xbox Cloud Gaming

by · Android Police

Streaming sticks and smart TVs have evolved past just providing a gateway to popular video streaming services, and now provide access to game streaming services as well. We've seen Amazon offer Luna and Xbox Cloud Gaming through its own products, but it now appears that the service will also be available on some of Amazon Fire TVs going forward.

The news comes direct from Amazon (via 9to5Google), and the timing couldn't be better, especially since Nvidia is about to enforce its 100-hour playtime limit starting in 2026. It comes as no surprise that Xbox Cloud Gaming is landing on Amazon's other products, and for the time being, will only be available on Fire TV 4-series and Fire TV Omni QLED series TVs.

More to come

We don't know why it took so long to get Xbox Cloud Gaming on its TVs, but those purchasing Amazon's Fire TVs will be happy to know that it's part of the package. As you can imagine, this is just the beginning. Amazon plans to roll this out to more of its TVs in the future.

The good news is that going forward, all you need to have is a controller, and you'll have access to a monster library of popular games. And there are no limits here. Just play as long as you want. With that said, you will need to have a subscription to Xbox Game Pass in order to access Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Plans start at $10/month and can go as high as $30/month if you want the full experience. The Essential plan offers access to 50+ games, while the Premium plan bumps that number to 200+. The Ultimate plan will provide access to over 500 games, which is impressive to say the least. Plus, it provides access to EA Play and Ubisoft+.

A good option for casual gaming

This isn't going to be a complete replacement for having a dedicated console or gaming PC, but for most people it should be a great option. You get a healthy selection of games, and the quality is pretty good so long as you have an internet connection that can handle it.

And while access on Amazon's Fire TVs is new, it's still available on other compatible devices as well. You can play directly from your phone or connected device using a web browser. It's really that easy.

The best part is that you can always just try it for a month, and it will only cost $1. So if you've been thinking about it, now's going to be a great time to try it out.
