This new Samsung One UI feature is awful; there's no way to turn it off

Samsung usually gives me more control over my phone than almost any other Android brand.

That is why it is so frustrating when Samsung suddenly decides that one specific thing should be impossible to ignore.

It keeps appearing during an everyday task, takes up valuable screen space, and there is no obvious setting to make it disappear permanently.

The feature is Audio Eraser, and Samsung insists on showing its shortcut when I play a video.

Samsung actually made Audio Eraser much better

It's quite useful

I like what Samsung has done with Audio Eraser. When the feature arrived, I mostly thought of it as another Galaxy AI editing trick I would use occasionally after recording a video.

The newer implementation feels more practical because I can use it while I am watching content instead of going through an editing workflow first.

That makes a noticeable difference in real-world situations. If I am watching a video where someone is speaking over loud traffic, wind, music, or other distracting background sounds, I can use Audio Eraser to make the important parts easier to hear.

I don't have to download the clip, open it inside an editor, make changes, and save another copy. The experience feels flawless.

I particularly like the idea for watching travel videos, outdoor recordings, interviews, or social media clips where the audio quality is not always perfect.

It is one of those Galaxy AI features that solves an actual problem rather than feeling like AI for the sake of AI.

Then Samsung put it somewhere I can't ignore

The shortcut takes over valuable Quick panel space

This is where Audio Eraser goes from being a useful feature to something that gets in my way.

When I am watching a video and pull down the Quick panel, Audio Eraser is automatically pinned near the top.

That would be easier to ignore if it appeared in an empty corner, but it changes the position of the other controls I use all the time.

I rely on muscle memory with the Quick panel. If I want to enable Auto rotate, adjust brightness, switch the phone to vibrate, toggle Bluetooth, or change another setting, I know roughly where to tap without thinking.

As soon as Audio Eraser appears, that layout shifts. Suddenly, the control I expected in one place has moved somewhere else, and I have to stop for a second and look at the panel before tapping anything.

It sounds minor, but it gets irritating because this happens while I am using apps I open constantly.

I could be watching something on YouTube, scrolling through social media, playing a clip from the browser, or checking a video someone sent me.

Video playback is a normal part of how I use my phone, and Audio Eraser keeps inserting itself into my workflow again and again.

Samsung made this decision for me, and every time the panel shifts around, I end up second-guessing where my usual toggles have gone.

I don't hate Audio Eraser

There is such an easy fix

I appreciate Audio Eraser when I am trying to clean up a noisy recording or make dialogue easier to hear, but those situations are occasional.

Most of the time, I am watching a clip and want my Quick panel to behave the way I set it up.

That is what makes this implementation frustrating. Samsung seems to assume that because a feature can be useful during video playback, it deserves permanent priority when media is running. I disagree.

The fix couldn't be simpler. Samsung does not need to remove Audio Eraser or hide it from everyone.

A simple Audio Eraser toggle in the Quick toggles menu would solve the problem.

Samsung could even let me move it into the regular Quick panel editor so I can decide whether it deserves a spot.

That is the part I find strange. One UI is usually excellent at giving me good control over the interface.

In this case, Samsung has a useful feature and a perfectly good Quick panel customization system.

It needs to connect the two and let me decide where Audio Eraser belongs.

A small change with big frustration

Samsung does plenty of things right with One UI, but this is the kind of small design decision that becomes irritating because I run into it all the time.

Audio Eraser is useful when I need it, but that does not mean I want its shortcut following me every time I play a video.

The biggest issue is the lack of choice. I don't want Samsung to remove Audio Eraser. I just want the freedom to decide when it shows up.
