Google Calendar's triple time zone feature is a game changer for global workers

If you're someone that's global, you'll know the pain of getting things in order with people from around the world. Staying connected is one thing, but trying to schedule things is another. Luckily, products like Google Calendar make it easier, providing the ability to set up time zones. While two were good, it wasn't really ideal. So, you can imagine our excitement when the brand announced that it would be expanding the feature to three time zones (via Android Authority).

This will be a huge deal for some

I'm someone who works across multiple time zones. So, just having the ability to manage two in Google Calendar was good enough. But with Google adding a third option, this opens things up in a whole new way. Google says that going forward, users will be able to configure "a primary, secondary, and new tertiary time zone—directly on your calendar grid."

For now, this will only be available on Google Calendar for the web. And to be honest, I think this is the right move since it does take some space to make this UI work. We hope that in the future this will be available on the Android app, especially with foldables becoming more popular year after year.

Google shows what this will look like in the screenshot above, with three time zones on the left-hand side of the calendar. Users can create custom labels for these time zones to make them easier to identify. This change is rolling out to Rapid Release domains now and will roll out to Scheduled Release domains starting October 12, 2026.

By the end of October, every Google Calendar user should see this option available. Right now, I'm not seeing this on any of my accounts, but you can try it by heading into the Settings of Calendar, clicking Time zone in the right-hand menu, and seeing whether a third time zone is available.

While it's a simple tool, Calendar is quite effective if you use it properly. If you're someone who's not really using it, we highly recommend revisiting it. We've paired it with other Google products to get the most out of it, and it really changed the way we use the app. Give it a try, it's available on nearly every platform in some way, shape, or form.
