Pixel update fixes wireless charging, camera zoom video glitch, and more
by Timi Cantisano · Android PoliceBrands have been pretty good about implementing Android updates to their respective devices, but Google is still pretty much unmatched in this space, providing the fastest updates for its Pixel devices. And while we can always appreciate new features and bug fixes, there are cases when updates can also break things that were once working just fine.
So, we always try to caution when charging into the latest updates, because you never know how devices will react, and what new problems will pop up when it's released to the public. With that said, Google has now released its May 2026 update for Pixel phones. This will start landing on supported Pixel phones running Android 16 starting today.
Big fixes incoming
Google does state that the rollout could take a few weeks, it just depends on your device, what carrier it's on, and the specific version of the hardware. For the time being, this release is available for Pixel 7 devices and newer. The update includes:
- Fix for slow wireless charging speeds when the battery level is between 75% and 80% in certain conditions
- Fix for an issue where the camera app could freeze while recording video and adjusting the zoom level
- Fix for an issue that caused a persistent flickering white dot or visual noise to appear at the top of the display in certain conditions
- Fix for an issue that could intermittently cause the screen to appear fuzzy, frozen, or display noise lines
- Fix for an issue where the keyboard or input screen could appear frozen or incorrectly positioned in some apps under certain conditions
As you can probably guess, these updates are going to be important, and it's going to be worth your time to get the update as soon as possible. We appreciate the updates Google pushes out, which makes the Pixel experience what it is.
This month, the brand will show off what it's been working on during its Google I/O developer conference, which is set to take place on May 19 and 20. The event will showcase the brand's products and services, including Android.
