Samsung Galaxy S26 finally gets the Z Fold 8's best features with One UI 9
by Chandra Steele · Android PoliceIt’s time for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series to officially get all the bells and whistles that were introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra are getting One UI 9 in a rollout that starts today.
One UI 9 went through seven beta releases to reach this stable update that also includes the September 2026 security patch.
Today’s rollout begins for phones in South Korea and should start arriving in other countries soon.

Check for the update
To see if your Galaxy S26 series has the update, first make sure that your phone either has a 30% or more charge or is plugged in.
Then navigate to Settings > Software update > Check for system updates and if there is an update, select Download now. Once the download is complete, select Restart.
What’s new
One UI 9 packs in lots of new features.
There’s an entire warranty and care hub that centralizes warranty tracking, diagnostics, repairs, and support. right inside the Settings menu. One of the most useful features is an onboard diagnostics tool that can evaluate battery, charging, sensors, touch response, and connectivity and for any detected problems, either suggest a solution or put in a repair request.
Document scan has significant improvements when it comes to handling materials like curved pages in a book or papers with folded corners. Finger Eraser has been tweaked to make for cleaner scans and there are large-screen-optimized views.
Video gets a boost with My FanCam, which lets users select one person to center. It makes it easy to put the focus on a single person in a larger scene without the person behind the camera having to worry that their skills as a cinematographer.
Agentic AI can take contextual cues from the content on a phone’s screen and turn them into action items with Now Nudge. It handles things like seamlessly scheduling events in calendars from text conversations or making a reservation when looking over travel plans.
Additionally, Voice Recorder, Interpreter, and Creative Studio have gotten some improvements.
There are also new security features. This includes Security Brief, which is designed to protect the information in Now Brief from things like malware and red flags when it comes to permissions. Privacy Alerts uses AI to identify privacy risks and inform users about any that are occurring in the background.
