Samsung Galaxy phones hit by new freezing issue, which is why you should avoid this Good Lock module
by Timi Cantisano · Android PoliceIt's never a good day when your phone starts freezing out of the blue. That's especially the case if you're not running any beta software. Apparently, a Samsung Galaxy user is experiencing an issue when using One Hand Operation+, which is part of the brand's Good Lock module.
One Hand Operation+ is a tool that allows users to operate their handset using just one hand through gestures. And when using it for screenshots, it appears the swiping gestures are not working temporarily, with there being a few second delay before things go back to normal.
Not what we want to see
This was called out on the Samsung forums and picked up by the folks at Android Authority. Now, while this is frustrating, it doesn't seem to be the end of the world. In addition, there doesn't really seem to be too much traction on this, so it could be a isolated incident or an issue not affecting many people.
Regardless, it looks like Samsung is aware of the problem, with a moderator responding to the post, explaining the situation and that a fix is coming. The moderator shares through translation that "this issue occurs because the gesture handles are set to be hidden when a color is assigned to them, due to a problem where they are included in the screen capture."
Perhaps the most important part of the response is that Samsung is now aware and "will review modifications to make the gesture handles transparent rather than hidden and reflect this in a future update." With that said, if you're experiencing this problem, you'll have to be patient for the time being.
Again, it's unclear just how many folks are affected by this issue or if it's a one-off problem. We have seen different issues in the past with One Hand Operation+, but searching for this online, it doesn't appear to be a problem from the past and looks to be something new. While we do recommend avoiding this module for now, you can always give One Hand Operation+ a try if you have never used it.
It can do a lot more than just take screenshots. We think that if you have a larger phone, you'll find it extremely useful. Furthermore, if you own a Samsung phone, experimenting with Good Lock is an absolute must. We have some great suggestions on how to instantly upgrade your phone for a better experience.
If you've been a Samsung user for some time and have never experimented, don't worry, there are many users that have never touched Good Lock. However, we think that it's an essential part of making Samsung phones better and should be used if possible.
