Samsung makes it painless to join and leave beta builds on Galaxy phones

For years now, jumping in and out of beta programs, especially Android and Samsung's One UI betas, has felt like a chore. iOS' implementation, on the other hand, has been much smoother.

Samsung has taken notes, and it looks like it is planning a revamp of its One UI Beta program.

The development, which was shared as a notice in the Samsung Members app, highlights all the changes in the procedure for participating in the program (via SamMobile).

"We have changed the registration process to two steps; joining the Beta Program and participating in Beta test, once you join the Beta Program, you can freely join and leave Beta tests," reads the notice. "Now, the Beta T&C agreement process, which was previously required for each model, only needs to be completed once when you participate in the 'Beta Program.' Once you have participated, joining and leaving the Beta test can be done with just a few taps."

So, essentially, you agree to the beta program terms and conditions only once. They remain valid until you explicitly choose to leave the beta program.

The new procedure will kick off with One UI 9.

To support the new procedure, Samsung is moving away from beta banners in the Members app. Instead, it is creating a dedicated, permanent space within the Samsung Members app called "Beta Program Home." Once you reach said page, you'll see all individual beta tests that would be open at the time, complete with beta tips.

You'll be able to join a relevant beta from one tap from said screen.

Leaving a beta is equally easy. Users will be able to navigate to a new 'More' menu within each beta's 'details page,' where they will find a 'Withdraw from beta program' button. This should allow users to seamlessly jump between stable and experimental builds.

The change should lower the barrier to beta entry significantly. By making the beta joining procedure a lot more seamless, Samsung is encouraging more 'regular' and 'every day' Galaxy users to experiment with beta builds without the fear of getting locked behind unstable software.
