Pixel 11 users are getting some nasty Google Maps bugs in Android Auto
by Mark Jansen · Android PoliceThere's yet more bad news for Android Auto and Pixel 11 users, as it seems Google Maps on Android Auto is severely playing up, but only on Pixel 11 devices.
A number of
owners have reported rather serious problems while using Google Maps in Android Auto, including flickers, black static, and an obviously low frame rate.

Yet more Android Auto problems
But thankfully, restricted to just the Pixel 11
has been cursed with more than its fair share of bugs recently, and it's made being a fan all the more difficult. However, most of them, like the disappearing speedometer, are more annoying than truly disruptive. Unfortunately, that can't be said about this new problem.
This problem has been bubbling along for a little while now, judging by the age of the first complaints about this issue. Coming from just about a month ago, this post highlights the specific problems. According to the post,
throws up constant glitches during use, including graphical artifacts, flickering, and even full freezes.
The problem seems to be completely restricted to the Maps app, though, as there have been no problems with other apps in split-screen mode.
Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident, as other users have noticed similar problems in the month since the first post. It appears to be a problem that only affects the Pixel 11 line, with the first poster mentioning their Pixel 9a didn't have these sorts of problems at all. They also ruled out the Pixel's old nemesis,
.
Since the bugs only affect Google Maps, it seems to be a problem with that app in particular, and specifically on Pixel 11 phones, which is odd. Some have come up with their own fixes, which are worth using if you've come across these problems in your use. However, we'd recommend using a different map app in the meantime, as glitches during driving can be distracting and potentially dangerous.
Google is on the case though, as confirmed in two separate replies, so hopefully a fix should be on the way soon. With the Pixel 11 being Google's latest flagship phone, we can't imagine it would want to leave this bug in place. Android Auto bugs are common in new phone releases, and often quickly fixed.
