5 Bluetooth trackers you should buy instead of the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3

by · Android Police

After a gap of nearly three years, Samsung finally debuted the Galaxy SmartTag 3 on September 30, 2026. The company made plenty of upgrades this time around, including UWB and Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding for more precise nearby finding, along with a smaller, lighter design.

But despite Google making major improvements to Find Hub, Samsung has, for some reason, still not made the SmartTag 3 compatible with Google's network. Instead, it still relies on Samsung's Galaxy Find network.

Adding iPhone support is a welcome upgrade, but for Android users, I'm still not convinced the Galaxy SmartTag 3 is the obvious tracker to buy.

If you're not invested in Samsung's ecosystem or want to try something different, plenty of SmartTag 3 alternatives are worth considering.

Moto Tag 2

The best alternative for most

If I had to pick one Galaxy SmartTag 3 alternative for most Android users, it would probably be the Moto Tag 2.

Unlike Samsung's tracker, the Moto Tag 2 works with Google's Find Hub network, so you don't need a Galaxy phone to take advantage of it.

Motorola isn't shying away on the specs either. The Moto Tag 2 supports Ultra Wideband and Bluetooth Channel Sounding, similar to the SmartTag 3, so you still get precise finding as long as your smartphone supports UWB.

Motorola also rates the Moto Tag 2 for close to two years of battery life, and it carries an IP68 rating compared to IP67 on the SmartTag 3.

It has other useful features, like double-pressing the button on the tracker to ring your smartphone when you can't find it. It can even double as a remote shutter button for your phone's camera.

Right now, it's discounted to $20, making it $10 cheaper than Samsung's Galaxy SmartTag 3.

Google Pixel Tag

The obvious choice for Pixel users

If you're invested in the Google ecosystem, it might be worth waiting for the Google Pixel Tag.

Being a Google product, the Pixel Tag works with the company's Find Hub network. Like the Moto Tag 2, it supports UWB and Bluetooth Channel Sounding for precision finding.

It also has some nice Google-specific touches. You can ask Gemini to find your tracker, and it'll ring the Pixel Tag. Similar to the Moto Tag 2, you can press the button on the tracker to ring your phone, even when it's on silent.

Unlike the Moto Tag 2, you don't need to download a separate app from the Play Store to manage the tracker. The Pixel Tag integrates with Android, so you can manage its settings without another app.

There are a couple of downsides, though. Battery life is rated at just over a year, and you get a slightly worse IP67 rating. But if you use a Pixel phone and can wait until November, the Pixel Tag launches on November 11 and might be worth holding out for.

Chipolo Loop

No more replacing batteries

If you want a Bluetooth tracker you don't have to replace batteries in every so often, one of the best options is the Chipolo Loop. It has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to six months, and when it runs out, you can charge it with a USB-C cable.

There are other benefits as well, including support for Google's Find Hub and Apple's Find My network. This means you can pair the Chipolo Loop with an Android phone or an iPhone. You can't use both networks at the same time, but it gives you more flexibility if you switch from Android to iPhone or vice versa.

It also has a few nice touches, like the built-in silicone loop that makes it easier to attach the tracker to bags and luggage without buying another accessory.

The biggest downside is the lack of UWB, which means you don't get the precision finding offered by the Galaxy SmartTag 3.

If you don't care about Ultra Wideband and would rather have a tracker you can recharge instead of replacing the battery, the Chipolo Loop is a great alternative.

Pebblebee Clip 5

Battery life is the big win

Like the Chipolo Loop, the Pebblebee Clip 5 also has a rechargeable battery, but it beats Chipolo by offering up to 12 months of battery life. When it runs out, you can recharge it using a USB-C cable.

It also supports Apple Find My and Google Find Hub, giving you the flexibility to use it with either an iPhone or Android phone. Like other cross-platform trackers, you can use it with only one network at a time.

The Pebblebee Clip 5 has a built-in attachment point, making it easy to attach to luggage, bags, or keys without buying another accessory. There's also an LED on the tracker that can help you find your belongings when you're searching for them in the dark.

The biggest downside is the lack of UWB support, so you don't get the precision finding offered by the Galaxy SmartTag 3. It also costs around $5 more than Samsung's tracker, but the rechargeable battery and cross-platform flexibility might make that extra cost worth it.

Ugreen Finder Duo

Four trackers for the price of one

If you're looking for an affordable pack of Bluetooth trackers that offers most of the features you'd want without hurting your wallet, the Ugreen Finder Duo is a great option.

Like the Chipolo Loop and Pebblebee Clip 5, it has a rechargeable battery that charges over USB-C and lasts up to a year. It supports Google Find Hub and Apple Find My, so you're not locked into the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem and can use it with Android or iPhone.

You don't get UWB or precision finding, but the biggest advantage of the Ugreen Finder Duo is the price. A four-pack costs around $34, while most other trackers on this list cost nearly the same amount for a single tracker.

The Ugreen Finder Duo is a simple rechargeable tracker that works with either Apple Find My or Google's Find Hub, so you aren't locked into one ecosystem. It has a built-in speaker to help locate misplaced items, and its USB-C rechargeable battery can last up to 365 days between charges.

Samsung should do better

This shows that while Samsung has done a good job improving the SmartTag 3 hardware, the lack of Google Find Hub support still stinks. It's probably my biggest issue with the tracker, and I hope Samsung fixes it in the next generation.

If you don't care about Google Find Hub and instead want something that works across Android and iOS, you might want to look at Tile trackers. Like Samsung, Tile relies on its own network, but it works with Android and iPhone at the same time, giving you more flexibility if you use devices across both ecosystems.

Tile has also been around for years and remains one of the better-known Bluetooth tracker options, so it's definitely another alternative worth considering.
