Amazon's cheapest Kindle Scribe is finally coming to the US on June 10

by · Android Police

The Kindle Scribe is Amazon's super-sized Kindle that's meant for scrawling as much as reading. It's also quite expensive for a Kindle product, and many might have been holding out for the cheapest variant to come out, the front light-free variant. However, it's been missing in action since the new range debuted.

But that's about to change. The Kindle Scribe without Frontlight is due to release in a number of countries, including the US, on June 10.

The cheapest Kindle Scribe is finally coming to the US

The Kindle Scribe is the biggest Kindle Amazon offers, and it's also one of the most expensive. To some extent, that makes sense. It has a massive 11-inch e-Ink display, along with an included stylus, and the ability to import documents and PDFs, as well as create its own detailed notebooks. The stylus can be used to make notes and draw on just about any document, too, making it a solid choice for any professional that needs to take notes and scrawl on the move.

Plus, it's still a Kindle, so you can read all your Kindle e-books, listen to your Audible audiobooks, and benefit from a long-lasting battery.

The downside? The basic Scribe starts at $500 for 32GB of storage. That's a lot of money to spend on what is essentially an overgrown e-reader.

There's always been a cheaper model of the Scribe touted as a part of this refresh, but it's never been available before. Priced at $430, the Scribe without a front light isn't a huge discount, but it's enough to make it a more appealing prospect.

Speaking to Good e-Reader, Amazon has stated that the Scribe without Frontlight is finally coming into stock in the United States, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Canada, and Brazil. It will be up for sale on June 10, with stocks leaving Amazon's warehouses starting the next day, June 11.

It's a big help for Amazon's Kindle faithful, who may have begun to lose faith with the company recently. Amazon's recent decision to cut off a number of older Kindles from the Amazon store caused quite the stir, and many might have been looking to switch to a new e-reader brand altogether.

This eventual release of a very good Kindle may well tempt a few of those people into staying.

Kindle Scribe (2025)

The Amazon Kindle Scribe (2025) may only be a slight overhaul of the previous year's Scribe, but it's still the Kindle to get if you want a big-screen experience and don't care about color.
